 2008 will be Rip Tide's 16th season as the Tides’ #1 fan. Rip promises to provide even more fun and crazy antics each and every time the Norfolk Tides take the field.
Rip Tide makes appearances throughout Hampton Roads year-round. If you would like to book Rip Tide for a birthday party, festival, parade or other special event, call the Tides office at 622-2222 ext. 121 and we will be happy to assist you in setting up our #1 fan for your #1 event. Rip Tide loves visiting our fans in the community and meeting as many people as possible!
Rip was created by Spectrum Puppets of Virginia Beach and was hatched on March 10, 1993 at Norfolk Scope in front of 7,000 Hampton Roads Admirals’ fans. Rip Tide's current costume was constructed by Olympus Flag and Banner Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Olympus has been producing mascot costumes for over thirty years. Their first customer was McDonald’s and they are still the only company to produce a character for the hamburger chain.
While at a game at Harbor Park, feel free to stop Rip Tide as he makes his way through the stands and say, “Hi!” Just be careful because he may be armed with his favorite water gun!
